Dig For Fire leapt at the opportunity to capture Tinariewen, a collective known as "the guitar poets of the desert," in the intimate setting of East 4th Street's Other Music record store, as part of their 'Live at Other Music' film series. The nomadic ensemble that formed in a refugee camp in Libya back in the 80s can be described as hypnotic, but completely infectious. It's the African blues if you like, underpinned not by a woeful longing, but by a desire to rise up in the face of adversity. A reminder that the human spirit is indomitable. This was one of those filming opportunities that make it all worthwhile.
