Just after 1000pm on May 26th, 2009 the Burnaby RCMP received multiple 911 calls of a shooting which had just occurred in the undergorund parking lot at 4182 Dawson St in Burnaby.

Members of the Burnaby RCMP responded to the area and located one male in the underground suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services, including Advanced Life Support, attended to the scene and the male was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

There were a number of witnesses to the shooting. Two vehicles believed to be involved fled the scene. While Police do not have a vehicle licence plate number on these vehicles, witnesses were able to provide good vehicle descriptions. At this time, the Burnaby RCMP are engaging other surrounding RCMP and Municipal Police agencies in attempting to locate these vehicles.

  • Was Burnaby Fire Department on scene? If So was it a small ladder?

  • No Burnaby Fire was NOT on scene... another fuckup by BCAS

  • How is that BCAS' fault? If a BLS and ALS unit show up for a gunshot victim, fire can't do much... unless they show up first (which they would've, because Burnaby Fire has the best response time in BC, so they would've beat BCAs by a long time anyway). If anything, it's the dispather's fault for not calling them. Just my two cents worth.

  • BC Ambulance uses a system to Dispatch called "MPDS" (Medical Priority Dispatch System). The Code they dispatched the shooting under does not send the call to the Fire department. The dispatcher working obviously coded it wrong either intentionally or by accident. Either way Fire never got the chance to respond.

  • BCAS Uses the AMPDS. I believe I was sent on this call as a 27 Delta 4 HLA. HLA is "Highest Level Available". Hmmm ALS on scene, BLS on scene FR not on scene, seems like it was dispatched correctly. " Obviously coded it wrong intentionally" I did hear a helicopter that night but I didn't seeeee it, I bet it was black!

  • This Shooting was a 27 bravo 4. Whoever the dispatcher was coded it wrong, either by accident or on purpose. Fire Departments do not respond to bravo calls, and BCAS knows that. I am not trying to put down on paramedics, I love BCAS. Paramedics are the most important people out there. PD & FR dont save lives... paramedics do. I just dont like they way calls are dispatched.

  • @azmovement Yeah, he's kickin it....with 24 hour assisted care for the rest of his life...ain't it great to be a gangsta!!!

  • 50 cent aint got nothin on this dude this fucker got hit 20 times and still kickin it

  • "FD's do not respond to bravo calls, and BCAS knows that". Not an accurate statement. In the AMPDS table of the Resource allocation plan (RAP) Fire responds to the following "Bravo" calls: 03,04,04S,12,17,19,22,25,27B3,29,30. We both are privy to info that should not be discussed here. Maybe over coffee one day (say Dawson and Gilmour hahah ). Keep up the news gathering.

  • I totally agree. I just took offence to the inference that BCAS would withhold calls from the FD. That would be Negligent on our part. After the "Cameron Report" and The "Resource Allocation Plan" FD come on more of some types of calls and less of others. It is an FD based report. The RAP is a physician/BCAS/FD based plan.

  • Lets not confuse "call taking" and "dispatching". Initial 911 call may have made it a 27B4. I was called on the HOTLINE for a "pre-alert", call evolved fast. Call takers do the initial coding, calls can get up/down graded as more info comes in. This happens mostly with 3rd party type (bravo) calls. AMPDS is not perfect, but our dispatch has NO REASON to withhold calls from FD. If FD is not required on scene we can cancel them, and we do. Good video by the way! Love the players, hate the games.

  • I don't think anyone is not getting along here. There is nothing wrong with a healthy discussion about the type of resources and agencies that BCAS sends for medical calls . I would like to see an emergency medical call taker or dispatcher sending all the tools and resources available to them for the respective type of call to the scene to help the injured person. First Responders could have been out in the area and just a block away for all we know.

  • ALSO: both ALS and BLS units were closer then FD and with AVL our dispatch can see this. If you are a FF your comments ("Either way Fire never got the chance to respond.") make your co-workers look bad. This is not a game, or a conspiracy. A person recived many GSW's and is alive because PARAMEDICS did their job! Enough said. I think all GVRD FD crews are awsome to work with (Burnaby, Surrey, VFD know their shit). Yes not all crews get along, usually just individuals personalities. Letsgetalong

  • Hey Idiot! You have no idea what you are talking about on this call! I was on this call, I am in your video! Our unit responded from quarters ( Douglas and Boundry) , probably 8-10 blocks closer then hall 5 and we rolled in with the first police units. Get off your "OMG fire wasn't dispatched its BCAS's fault kick". I am suprised you didn't spew something like " the paramedics are on strike so thats why fire wasn't called". ON THIS CALL the right crews were dispatched APPROPRIATLY!!!
