Maybe you could use this video as evidence to get the cop in trouble, if not their immediate supervisor, then internal affairs or state police could look at it.

Ahh, two more leased locomotives from UP to NS.

cops dont get in trouble unless fbi comes in or state has to discipline them

Nice train shots with the camera placements in all. I especially like the "S" curve shot. However the belt comment was kinda lame. That guy may not like belts.

Hey, that train engineer passing by the police car, he blew his whistle at you. Do you know any of the crews anymore.

A great railfanning video! Very pleasant to watch,!

About the guy holding his pants... That was really funny! However, You're a little bit hard with him; perhaps he was looking for a job!

We often see police misusing their authority in bypassing signalisation for personal purposes. That's not a responsible act, and your video greatly demonstrate it. Fortunately, most of police agents doesn't act like that.
The fact is that you must have level crossings in great respect, for obvious reasons, police or not. On top of that, agents are supposed to be more competent in road rules than anybody, especially when they're not in a real emergency.
They deserve a big kick in the ass..

Here in Minnesota the law states wether its a protected crossing or not.. You are suppose to stop when a train is present.. It use to be if: just red lights flashing, you could proceed with caution, crossing arms had to be stopped period.. With so many idiots getting killed, now you have to stop if there's no crossing arm with lights flashing.. I still see even cops going through.. But then, they think because they have the badge? They can do what they want!

great video 6/5 !!!
Don't mean to be the one to say this but both of them made it across with plenty of time to spare although I found the fuzz running behind the other sheep like a shepard herding them to be pretty funny to be honest.
See this proves that even the police get caught! Only problem is we can't issue them a ticket. I bet the crew was laughing a little at the herding mentality of the police officer :D

But, HyperActive7, if this were a completely guarded crossing, the arms would have been down long before the first car crossed.

Maybe that's something you need to run across to the city council that people do get killed at unprotected crossings more then protected ones.
When there is no arm it gives the driver a free shot to do something stupid. Sometimes they get lucky and sometimes they lose.
Point is.. The city can work with the railroad on changing things and putting arms on the crossings or the railroad could do it themselves. Either way.. It sounds like a city council issue..

At $300,000 a crossing, (on average) I doubt that any city or rail line is hoping at the opportunity to install protection. Especially in this economy.
