Finally we composed our full comparison between Reactor (Havok engine) and Mass Fx (Physix). Hopefully this was insightful ;)

  • I uninstall my 3DS MAX 2012 because the Havoc reactor in 3DS MAX 2011 are better. Look @ my video 4 example. All this was created with 3DS MAX 2011 Havoc engnine, except the gyrochain video.

  • Mass FX is goog for simulations look like WTC 9/11 :) but Havoc is the best for precision mechanical simulations. My appinion is the 3DS MAX 2011 Havoc engine is the best.

  • Well, as I understand it there is more involvement between Nvidia and Autodesk as their collaboration grows in time. Thus, o course Autodesk will choose a "partner" over another developer for business purposes.

I feel like massfx is more snappy than reactor though. I guess this translates into a more physically correct simulation given the objects values but I do miss the increased features of the reactor engine.

  • too bad they didn't let you choose which physics solver you wanted.

  • hate the way they removed Reactor :(
