@01musicfan : yes, that was a great year for pop music; there were the left over big bands (kyser, les brown with "i've got my love to keep me warm"), gordon jenkins with "maybe you'll be there"). bing had a mega irish hit "galway bay"), vaugan monroe with "ghost riders in the sky", a monster hit which also seemed to be #1 for most of the year. a brit hit was "cruising down the river"... so many i remember from that year when i was 11-12 yrs old

Woody Woodpecker was created in 1940 at the Walter Lantz animation studios for Universal. Back then, Woody's original voice and unique laugh were provided by Mel Blanc -- until he signed a contract with Warner Bros.

Woody arrived on tv in 1957, and by then his voice was provided by Walter Lantz's wife, Grace. The Woody Woodpecker Song was Kay Kyser's final hit to reach #1.

hey this was great but wat is the other song that has a wood pecker in it i used to listen to as a kid w my grandparents. u would hear the wood pecker peckin on wood in the song thanx for ur help
