I just obtained a bike computer and with this same kit (Sealed Lead Acid Battery version) I drove around in 36F temperatures outside and got a good 5 miles riding inefficiently powered when on level terrain and up hills like the inefficient Dick rider in their Dick and Jane diagram on Clean Republics website. The only time I didn't use power was going down hills.I am sure if I had used just the power for going up hills I would have got better mileage. In colder temps the battery has less power.

@exiledprophet the 700c will work fine if your brake pads can move down enough to catch a 700c rim. Some 27" bikes can, but not mine. If you don't mind just using the back brake, then you should be fine... However, I recommend using both brakes with an electric motor kit installed like this one.

hey I have a pretty similar bike (27" wheels) but I thought the 700c would work just fine. Did you hear otherwise?

Hey Bike Peeps. When buying the kits please Get the lithium battery , the lead acid battery is terrible for the environment from start to finish . The lead has to be smelted , releasing harmful toxins , it can't be recycled. The lithium lasts way longer, is faster and more environmentally sound. Thanks

I just bought one of these kits, look forward to setting it up... Take care!

I had to build my own. Clean Republic (as well as most companies) doesn't sell 27" wheel kits...
How is the noise from the motor ?is it loud ? I bought an electric bike from Walmart and the motor creates loud noise while riding that attracts attention from people.

@gentle991 its surprisingly quiet, especially when riding without too much load (not accelerating or on a hill)... Even then it is still quiet enough to not attract a lot of attention (at least in my experiences).

It's also much more expensive and the truth is some people do not have that kind of money... By riding an electric bike instead of a car (which is what I do), I'm already helping the environment out greatly. You can't be perfect...
