  • @cedriclovesaaron I'm sorry, you're right. I left out Safety Bill Bates #40 who was a dynamic thumper & devastating tackler (@ 3:26) and perhaps the best delay blitzer in NFL (seen @0:17). Bates was LB-tough, with emotional, explosive style with blitzing & tackling skills, and was a special-teams terrorist. Bates had aggression, hand strength & outstanding timing, & played draws, screens & sweeps very well. Bates was excellent at playing off blockers and staying in position to unload on players

  • this is a joke, right?

  • #77 Jim Jeffcoat was intense competitor & hustler who didn't take plays off & fit very well with Jimmy Johnson's new attacking style.Under Landry's Flex defense,Jeffcoat had to sit, read & react & was too undersized to hold ground consistently, was out of position & opposing blockers read him & his outside move & head fakes to inside. But now,Jeffcoat got into blockers quickly, used more battle than beef to play the run, recognized plays, was sure tackler & grabbed RBs on their way into pass routes

  • #92 Tony Tolbert was a tall, lean converted LB who at 6'6", 241, was impressive physical specimen.Tolbert had excellent feet, swim move & upfield charge. But Tolbert was better chasing plays away from him & often got chop-blocked, caught up in hand-fighting or just plain got stuffed at the point. LB Ken Norton Jr. #51 had an imposing physique & was a fair blitzer & had good straight-away speed(4.6) but lacked fluid, instinctive moves, struggled against the run & would not stick his nose in the pile

  • In 1989, #56 MLB Eugene Lockhart posted a mind-boggling, team-record & NFL high 222 tackles, & added 2 sacks, 2 INTs, & 8 passes defended. Lockhart had radar & relentless pursuit,& was equally effective at the point. Lockhart was a tough, physical, inside-out defender who hit anything that moved. # 30 CB Issac Holt had a smooth backpedal & loose hips, was an excellent route reader, and at 6'2",202, had above-average pop for a CB. Holt would go on to become a great special teamer.
