Everyone took notice of Brenda's labored breathing in the original ads. That is why I fell out of bed while laughing and watching this brilliant parody.
-
SCTV was dead on in it's parody of Brenda Vaccaro's inhaling noise.
-
This is so wrong! Ha ha ha. I remember seeing Brenda's early Tampax commercials and hearing the breathing. This is a great parody!

check out her facial expression at 38 sec

I love this parody.

Boy, do I remember this commercial! Who could forget it? The original commercial was run in autumn 1979, and it was for Playtex Deodorant Tampons & Brenda Vacarro was the spokesperson. I thought I was hearing things! She would take this huge breath of air after every line! She sounded as though she had emphysema! Later (early 1980) when they reran the commercial, I waited for the big breath of air, but they went back and edited out the fish-out-of-water gulps of air.

@razorcruelty This is a spoof of a commercial where Brenda Vaccaro was inhaling deeply all the time while reading the copy for a tampon commercial. The original was hilarious and I was trying to find it when I found this one.

@bootray Well, his comment could have been interpreted as there being absolutely NO sound on the video, as opposed to right/left channel differences. However, I do acknowledge the volume problems - which I explain on my profile - so beyond that, I don't know how to correct it. I'm not a tech maven, and so far, I haven't gotten much help on these technical aspects.
How could she get through this without laughing? The director's comments are the best..."She sounds like a seal in heat!" LMAO. I couldn't believe it when I heard the actual commercial back in the 80's, either.

Andrea was, is and will always be the single funniest female ever on the small screen (with the possible exception of Margaret Meehan of St Joseph's)
I'll take f*cking brilliant comedic actors for 100 Alex.
