This was recorded during St Peter's Singers' lunchtime recital on 28th October 2009 in the beautiful Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palma de Mallorca, which formed part of the choir's acclaimed concert tour of Mallorca. The organist is David Houlder, Sub-Organist of Leeds Parish Church and the Singers' regular accompanist.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum et benedicta fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae, ora pro nobis peccatoribus. Amen.

[Translation: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen]

Simon Lindleys setting of the Angelic Salutation, Ave Maria, was devised for the Choir of Leeds Parish Church in the late 1970s and has since achieved widespread performance by choirs throughout the English-speaking world. The work has been recorded and broadcast many times and was chosen to be sung at the Enthronement of the Most Reverend and Right Honourable David Hope as Archbishop of York. It has recently been recorded by Katherine Jenkins on her latest CD entitled 'Sacred Arias'.
