She sleeps with her truck?
-
Guys playing with dolls is hella gay
-
@hoopersghost I miss Ruby, Camille Bonora gave her a cute voice, anyone see Herry and Ruby becoming a couple?
-
@Nightmastercool97 yeah. Funny that people assume it's a message about gay children, when it's really just gender issues.
-
Despite what Ruby implies about teddy bears being feminine, I'd say that most preschoolers (boy or girl) like stuffed animals equally. A "gendered" costume or decoration might make them think of teddies differently--my little brother kept a plush Smokey for years--but otherwise, I'd guess that few kids young enough for Sesame Street say "Yuck, only a girl sleeps with a bear!"

Me present musical Guys and Dolls
It all about Guys and their Dolls
So now, Guys and Dolls.
What did you say this play was about?
-
Well, Sesame Street was all about education...and it really played a huge role in molding kids at a very fundamental level. We're now in the second generation (third?) after Sesame Street first aired. I can't imagine what kind of person I may have become if I hadn't grown up with it.
Love Jim Hensen...............love the messages in his work. Rest In Peace

Great i remember this sketch because it was one of the first sketches on Sesame Street that taught people that its okay for litle kids to go outside the gender roles and sex sterotypes such as girls always have to play with dolls and boys always have to play with trucks; it is one of the leassons that was taught and was similar to the 1972 television speical Free To Be You and Me.
