With hybrid cars gaining popularity with manufacturers and consumers alike, Keio University have developed a prototype electric car which can reach speeds in excess of 370 km/h. This version of the car is able to go from zero to 100km/h in 4 seconds, and using Lithium-Ion batteries can travel 200km. Each of the cars 8 wheels are connected to an electric motor which can deliver a combined 640hp. The car is not yet being produced in commercial quantities but the projected price of the first run of cars is approximately US$255,000 each.

  • You are obviously misinformed. Solar power is currently one of the energy sources with the most potential. It is free and completely pure, and the only thing keeping us from switching is the petroleum industry. A solar panel field with current technology the size of 100x100 miles in the arizona desert will power all of USA.

So instead of bitching and whining about your fairytale energy sources not being here, do your best to get the working technologies up and running in a large scale

  • one engine in one wheel have 80HP.. so 4*80=320HP but 8*80=640 HP !!!

  • @Nintencrow that would cost more money than the world wide GDP to build

  • It really is the Pink Panther's car.

  • The car is ugly but the technology is great!

  • i'll get a ferrari for that cost

  • @Nintencrow Your power would be completely dependant on the weather...not very 21st century...

At STANDART prices, a typical solar panel has a very hard time paying itself off, not to mention the costs for solving the unreliability !

(there's also the non-existant study, if a solar panel can generate more energy than it takes to make one, there's quite a chance that it doesn't)

So take your hippie (or whatever you prefer to call yourself) comment back to your own utopia...

  • Oh god. Why does this thing have eight wheels? Increases drag Drastically!

  • @AKAtheA Reliable? As if BP has proven the reliability of petroleum? Fuck your strawman argument.

Economical? Did you read my comment? Look around you? Given subsidies, solar power would easily grant new industry birth. You know I'm right. Besides, economics aren't the bottom line of everything. Given enough crisis, ecology will win.

And yes, it's more ecological in many ways than most other renewable resources.

  • @Nintencrow It's : not reliable, not economical and generaly speaking NOT ecological... enough?

  • @Atheismrulez You missed something important about GarrettKeeely, he is in Zimbabwe, where they don't have the excess safety features that suck down the mileage. The 60+ mpg might be a bit high but it is not far off for that vehicle there.

  • The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.

We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity now.
