Country Swing Dancing

Wow. These people have rhythm; just not any rhythm that has anything to do with the song that's playing.

@nynoah It's the most common form of dance injuries from people who've never taken a dance lesson. ;-)

Seriously, anyone watching this... you can see the girl struggling to keep her shoulder in a proper form. But the guy is just muscle powering everything. So sometimes she can't guard it. The most common form of dance injuries for women and a dislocated or hyper-extended shoulder. Its like watching a person nearly break their arm 20 times over.

@synergyst44 Ironically, you used the wrong "your" Should be "you're" still does not change the fact that this whole video looks like a shoulder labrial tear in the making. Check out some Blues, Lindy Hop, Balboa, East Coast (jitter bug) or even fusion dancers for some better form.

This is a sad example of what country dance has turned to. I dance Lindy, West-Coast, East-Coast, Blues, Ballroom (International and American), Latin, and Country. Each is fun, but I'll be the first to admit Country "looks" and feels the worst. It's not an inferior style of dance, it's just danced by inferior leads. What irritates dancers about Country is the lack of transition steps. Lifts are fun, but I want to see some footwork besides constant cuddles, hamerlocks, and behind the back passes.

@xDemonFillyx I think that's interesting, because most people like dancing country swing fast (even if the music isn't fast). I prefer dancing either two-step or West Coast Swing (which was originally called Western Swing) to country music. I agree dancing Lindy to country is rare. Most people just learn from friends, which is how I started, but you've got to start somewhere.

@lindyhop411 I would love to learn lindy hop, what i love about country swing is that its slow enough that my fiance can keep up. Ive seen maybe 1 couple out of a hundred dance lindy to country, very rare.

@xDemonFillyx I never said country swing wasn't fun. I used to dance it, but that was before I learn what tempo, rhythm, and a triple step was. No one has to learn Lindy Hop if they don't want to. I don't really care, but did you even know it existed? Or saw it danced to country music before?
As a little word of advice for any women who read this. Treat your arms like barbie arms. Look at the limited range of barbies arms, be like that. Never let your arm hyper extended in any direction. Always leave cushion room. Always your scapular muscles in your back engaged and your core will react better and it will give you a little cushion. If a guy is wrenching you like this, do yourself a favour and turn the dance down. Once you mess your shoulder up, it never heals right.

@FueledByRitalin I think there's also the ego factor. It takes a lot for someone to admit to themselves how much they don't know about something, especially dancing. There's also the the disconnect between rhythm and tempo (not to mention musical phrasing) that's unfortunately completely ignored by most "country swing" dancers.
