Takanohana had a force of will that far exceeded that of Musashimaru, who had a languoroous disposition. Nevertheless, Musashimaru gradually began to defeat Takanohana more and more near the end of their rivalry, winning 8 of their final 11 matches, and 19 out of 48 total matches.
