"The Last Republican" - Part 5: The Community Organizer

McCain advisor confronts an Obama-esque community organizer in the hunt for African-American votes. This behind-the-scenes look at the McCain campaign through the eyes of advisor and surrogate Martin Eisenstadt: The Last Republican. In Part 5, "The Community Organizer," Martin's speech to a black church is cancelled, but he makes the most of being rescheduled at the Marcus Garvey center and meeting with Doug, the community organizer. Never one to quit, Marty tries to get black people to vote for John McCain.

(I noticed that Martin made news today for leaking that Sarah Palin got a $900 spray-on tan courtesy of the RNC.)

This is my docu series I did for the BBC following Martin Eisenstadt, conservative blogger and McCain insider, as he stumps for McCain in LA. He's the guy who just leaked that Joe "The Plumber" is related to Charles Keating of Keating Five fame.

It being an election year, BBC asked me to do a piece on celebrity and politics and how they intersect here in the States. This was around the time that the McCain campaign was running an ad comparing Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. In pursuing my research, I contacted the pundit/blogger, Martin Eisenstadt, who first broke this story. I followed him for a day of campaigning when he visited Los Angeles. I quickly realized that Eisenstadt was my story. Already something of an internet mystery (he's been called a "fraud" and even worse) it turns out that in addition to being a blogger and a pundit, he's a McCain surrogate, a war profiteer and a bit of a randy bloke all around. Let's see if he gets under your skin as he got under mine.

you know, this guy likes to quote bible scripture - so here's one for him: "a wise man is slow to speak and slow to anger." he is neither of these. He makes him and his assistant look like total IDIOTS. He was "shocked" (a la Bill O'Reilley style) that the children were "well behaved." Then he's for "gentrification," to suggest that corporations should come in, kick the community out and make it "valuable." These are his selling points! WHAT A DUMB ASS!!! Sarah Palin's spray-tan is old news; give her a break, she is from Alaska where there is no sunshine for half of the year. Besides, how do we expect her to compete with the well-funded Democrats, when they can afford to get their tans in Hawaii?
