  • move to Canada, we dont have ANY health care insurers except for the the public sector. sure we have some atrocious waiting times, took me 2 hours wait to just get my finger x-rayed after getting hit with a puck, but u dont have to pay a thing at the hospital.

  • @RCACsurvivorman Whats crazy is, we do pay and we don't get any better service. A two hour wait for an xray sounds great.

  • I guess from you're silence its to be taken as a no............... Also could you show me the data on how it would cost less to provide everyone with health care compared to not providing all with care? Also the you're "insurance" story's had nothing to do with insurance, but rather the hospital. (btw why did you not pursue legal action against the doctor?)

  • Please see the link in the video description. My friend John put together some very compelling numbers. Our healthcare costs are bankrupting us as a country. We pay more, by far, than any other industrialized nation.

The insurance stories? How did my friend not going to a hospital at all reflect on the hospital? (continued)

  • As for my own story, our health care providers are pushing hard for reform because they'll be the first to tell you, they can not give quality care with the caseload they're pushed to carry. It's a matter of getting what you pay for and the insurance companies nickel and dime every where they can and create incentive for rushed and cheap treatment.

  • Where did you get the proposed bill? How many pages are there? Did read every single page and understand to the best of you're ability what you were reading?

  • I got the proposed bill online, looking for the link. Yes, I read it and felt I understood it fairly well. There are several new bills now being proposed.

  • BTW, a recent poll asked Canadians if they would support adding in private healthcare or spending more to improve the current public healthcare system. 86.2% were in favor of the current public system and opposed to privatization. You may hear Faux News drumming up people who will complain about the Canadian system, but they are in the minority (13.8%). Canada spends 9.9%GDP per person on healthcare, compared to the US' 15.3%, yet Canadians see Dr.s 50% more than Americans and get better care.

  • The US ranks among the lowest of all OECD countries for patient care and outcomes, yet spends double the OECD average on healthcare. About half the money the US spends on healthcare is publicly funded, so public spending is already equal to the average (%GDP) spending. In theory then, the US should be able to completely remove private spending, drastically improve patient care and outcomes, and not spend a cent more than it already does on public healthcare. Yes, the current system is that bad.

  • canada???????????????????????????

  • I don't agree that anyone deserves free health care. Why should I pay for someone who doesn't take care of themselves. Food, shelter and clothing are also vital human needs, why do you not advocate the government providing these things. Besides, the 10th amendment is clear in that this sort of matter should not be dealt with by the federal government. it should be left to the individual states. The bill should focus on the reasons why health care is so expensive in the first place.

  • I agree with you about patents, they should not exist. Intillectual property is bullshit. but you must realize that patents are a government institution designed to manipulate the market. This is the opposite of free market. Also, the reason why health care costs so much is that the government is inflating the prices through the likes of medicare, medicade, insurance regulations, the FDA, drug prohibition, and by encouraging people to buy insurance.

  • Great ! I Live in the uk have the fabulous NHS (National Health Service) dont understand why so many in the US are against it? Like I said brilliant over here like you said a VITAL HUMAN NEED! Works here!!

  • one page thats it

  • I live in FInland where we've got public healthcare vs private and while sometimes there are long queues to get surgery etc. I've had no big problem with it, got rid of a nasty hernia fixed in a very short time like a year or two ago. I can always go to my trusted old doc who I've had since I was a kid who does a marvellous job, I bet he's gonna retire soon though.

  • Unfortunately health care is no better in Canada. I have to wait 9 months just to see a doctor for a physical. It is so hard to find a Dr that actually cares about your health since I am younger and they brush off any symptom I come to them with. Healthcare will never be good privately or publically if the incentives arn't right. This bill if passed can make America's healthcare system great and prob better than Canada's.

  • So wait, let me get this straight. You are for the same government healthcare system as the UK, Canada and France have?
