  • Wonderful, and many thanks. It's 1954 and I'm six years old again, listening to this record on our wind-up gramophone. Wonderful....

  • @78Point26 :D I thought your comment was hilarious!

  • This blows away the Dennis Christmas version...which sounds surprising like Ethels, but nobody had the feel and perfection of Ethel Smith. I encourage you to look on Craigslist and buy a good Hammond Organ for cheap. All of the tone wheel models are very reliable and you can get them for $50-$200. An M-100 is a great bargain. So is the L100...the H100 is probably the best full size organ for the money. People want a lot for B's & C's...the A100 is the same organ. Ethel demanded B3's in later yrs

  • Found it on CD! "The Golden Age of Light Music / Light Music For All Seasons" (Track 22) on Guild Records via Amazon.

  • Haven't heard this since I used to play it on my Nan's old radiogram in the mid sixties. Thought it wasn't the right version until she breaks into 'swing' after about 2'00", then the memories came flooding back. Thanks for posting, otherwise I would probably never heard it again, as I don't think it's on CD.

  • Esta melodía la escuché de niño interpretada por la gran Ethel Smith y nunca se me olvidará. La recordaré con cariño: Sleigh Ride. Un gran saludo desde Bogotá Colombia.

  • Ha ha that was the WHIP for the horse! I used to do this on piano. Not an easy thing... Liked it though. Key changes, lots of different parts.

  • 2:07 and 2:13

    *L*

  • What's with the slapping noises in the song? Was someone misbehaving?
