wow. Q: who qualifies all of these loans? A: the lenders. DPA programs are taking the fall, when these guys shoulbe locked up.

I believe the fact is that 67% of all FHA forclosures were customers that had down payment assistance.
That is the price we are willing to pay to provide affordable home ownership. I am all for it.

I wonder if people realize that HUD actually STILL uses this program even though they are trying to eliminate it. What idiots! :)

There is no downpayment.
This program is fraud against the homebuyer and America's FHA Insurance Fund.
The fund lost an unanticipated $4.6 Billion due to these false downpayment gifts being promoted by greedy Realtors and lenders.
It's time for the long arm of the law to mete out some justice.
Ameridream - what a joke. Started in a Realtor's basement and made a fortune faking downpayment gifts. Time for some bracelets.

Devil's Advocate--I do not have the statistics in front of me but I have heard repeatedly that there has been a huge percentage of buyers w/DPA who lost their homes. The correlation of buyers with DPA & foreclosures is something like 1 in 3!?! There needs to be a compromise, but if the stats are even close to that figure, I can understand why they would want to toss DPA. What else can be done?

Wow! Everyone needs to see this video. It is amazing how DPA is becoming a scape goat, when the true perps, Freddie, Fannie, and the subprime bandits are being bailed out by johnny taxpayer.

Funny how the Gov't gives billions to bail out fannie and freddie (who require downpayment) and blame DPA for FHA problems...Hipocrasy at its finest.

WOW! Sadly this video really serves to illustrate just how far HUD will go in its attempt to deceive the public and congress.
They have finally admitted that they could manage any adverse consequences of DPA through reasonable underwriting standards.
