Pipe Major Roderick Weir from the Royal Highland Fusiliers and the Massed Bands performing "Highland Cathedral" live @ the Basel Tattoo 2008...

Lyrics:

There is a land far from this distant shore
Where heather grows and Highland eagles soar
There is a land that will live ever more
Deep in my heart, my Bonnie Scotland

Though I serve so far away
I still see your dreams, cities and streams
I can't wait until the day
When I'll come home once more

And so Lord keep me from the harm of war
Through all its dangers and the battle's roar
Keep me safe until I'm home once more
Home to my own in Bonnie Scotland

  • dont recognise p/maj,ronnie, 20 yrs of mercury poisoning, has taken its effect, i to spent 22yrs in RHF, however the lack of aftercare when required has left me wanting nothing to do with military, especially now that i have reversed,PTSD,combat stress, asthma, fibromialgya and many more all done in front of DR, and combatt stress, they dont want to know how it was done and discharged me

The P/Maj is a member of 2 Scots (Royal Highland Fusiliers) who, incidentally were the FIRST Scottish Pipe Band to record this very fine tune composed by Michael Korbe. We recorded it at the James Last 'Hansa' studios in Berlin in 1985 and that version can be found on the LP/CD "Proud Heritage".

    Ronnie

ps I was a member of the RHF Pipes, Drums & Bugles for 22 years

  • God bless those two Berlin Pipers for the making of this tune :-)

  • in my opinion, the slower versions are better

  • this is what human call epicness

  • not royal highland fisiliers

  • drums are too over the top
