New Year-concert; Streetorgan "De Leeuwerik" plays Amsterdam songs in Tokyo

Dutch GRAND STREETORGAN "De Leeuwerik" plays Amsterdam songs in Tokyo.

Assembled out of "Mortier" and "Decap" pipes by Rein van der Broek, this antique street-organ still sounds as intended 70 years ago when the name "De Leeuwerik" (meaning "Lark") was chosen.
Last major rejuvenation was in 1970, by the famous organ-builder Jan Van Eijk, and painted by Mr. A. Meijer.
The organ arrived in Japan in 1989, and has since then performed at events, festivals, hotels, parks and shopping-malls all over the country.
Maintained by Mr Koshikawa, who learned his job as a live-in-student with the family Mortier. Owner: Dirk Rebel.

オランダからのビッグストリートオルガン "De Leeuwerik"（日本語で「ひばり」の意）は「アムステルダムソング」を演奏中です。
ひばりの鳴き声のような音も聞こえますか。
オランダで７０年前に作られ、その後1989年に日本にやってきました。
日本各地のホテル、シアター、ショッピンモール、公園など、オープニングイベントやフェスティバルで屋外演奏されています。
重さ1350kg、サイズ　高さ約3.3m、幅約5m、奥行き約1.75m
博物館でしか見られないような最大級のストリートオルガンです。

they are actually cardboard-books, not wood. this technology was "brand new" when the Eiffel Tower was built in Paris!

wow! this machinery is amazing. I didn't know something like this exists, very cool! The way it "reads" the melody from those wooden books! Amazing what humans are able to construct, it looks pretty old too. Is it yours? thanks for sharing!
