BLACK WIDOW
Gliding o'er her sheer allure,
Knitted strands do I traverse.
What fate awaits, I can't be sure,
Yet life without her would be worse.

Screen shots.
BLACK WIDOW features Gene Tierney's final performance in a "noir" film. A cinematic jewel, the cast, sets and acting are superb. The restoration does full justice to the original.

Plot:
Theater producer Peter Denver is all too willing to help Nancy Ordway, an aspiring writer and "purpose" girl, with her career, which he discusses honestly and openly with Iris his wife. But, one day she returns to their apartment from a trip only to find Nancy's lifeless body hanging in the bathroom. Peter then fights a desperate battle to prove his innocence.

Cast in this video:
Van Heflin - Peter Denver
Gene Tierney - Iris Denver
Ginger Rogers - Lottie Marin
Reginald Gardiner - Brian Mullen
George Raft - Det. Lieutenant C.A. Bruce
Peggy Ann Garner - Nancy Ordway

Produced and directed by Nunnally Johnson

  • Hi,

what's the music you used on this clip? Thanks

  • @Mylesx66

It is mentioned at the end.

  • I didn't even know who Gene Tierney was when I watched this movie. I watched it because it was a Ginger Rogers movie and I really like her as an actress. I got into Gene Tierney not too long ago thanx to TCM. I might rewatch this movie just to see her performance.

  • @chilvari

Welcome. I also uploaded a scene from the movie. Her part is not as large as the other main actors. I hope you enjoy it.

  • For as long as is left Never shall I tire Of looking and yearning Filled with desire On the the beauty And mystery that Haunts every hour Never was there Or will be, so fair A fine flower. Happytheleaf..

  • You succeeded here! This 1954 movie is one of my favorites, and your choice of music combined with the stills is superb. Great job!

  • I have returned once again to this the music is almost Autumnal as was this period in Genes Life, there were just two more movies and then the pendulum swung, but it swung back as did Gene albeit for a brief and fleeting period.... and then Happiness Spring, Summer and sadly winter when all losses where restored and all sorrows did end..

  • I just watched this film. Very fun! Despite a poor script and uneven performances, it was BEAUTIFUL to watch...as evidenced by these stills. Classified as FILM NOIR but don't think in the classic term esp. being in Technicolor (almost in the HEAVEN CAN WAIT style). Thanks for posting and love the background music.

  • I have returned benny, for this is Grace and beauty combined.....
