IN this video I show off some of the new functions added to the Munchausen Flash Cartridge software. I demonstrate the menu, the persistent select and menu-skip functions, loading new games, and showing the cartridge running without a PC link and with a Zapper plugged in. Finally, I demonstrate a "verbose" console output on the PC side which details a little bit more of what's going on when you load up a ROM.

A couple of new features which are not demonstrated in this video include the ability to start up a ROM from the PC side, rather than selecting it from the menu, and also the "recovery mode" which can be used to restore the cartridge should it ever be bricked or require a firmware update.

Many thanks to Blargg for doing the code for the project, and to Low-Gain for providing the monitor I used to film this video.

  • Well, it's been a very very long time guys, and I've allowed myself to fall behind on this. I'm going to try and make another video detailing how to build these and then will be releasing the plans. I clearly have underestimated my ability to hand-build these in a timely fashion given my life right now.

  • Right now the beta software holds 3 roms, and the projected price of production will be around $50 or so. I do not know when we will hit production with these. A first batch of 1 dozen has been made, but is not for public purchasing.

  • Beta rolls out soon. If there are no more major snags along the road we might see production by January. But beta's almost never turn up no major bugs. :)

  • Where to get the color demo and litewall 10?

  • @poncasucks You can find both here: blargg.parodius.com/nes-code/

  • these things cost 10* as much as my complete nes set now XD

  • looking extremely forward to the completed famicom version of this, you guys kick ass.

  • i waiting munchausen so much, please keep up the good work:-)

  • I am happy to finally see an affordable NES Flashcart; seems to be a nice alternative to the PowerPAK. I don't care to have all of my NES games on one cart but it would be really cool to try out Japanese games on my Famicom that I cannot manage to track down.

And pc emulating the games just doesn't feel right to me, I an hoping to be able to purchase one of your clearly awesome Flashcarts.

  • @Ronnnnnnnni Well, it would seem most of the NES dev community doesn't care, what with the PowerPak out an all. This devcart is nearly single mapper- it's 2 mappers on one cart. I have been thinking of doing videos of my other single-mapper carts some time too.
