Nice video for those who don't know how this works, but why did you enter the entire STAR by hand when they were pre-programmed into your FMS and were ready at hand. Also, I love it when STAR guides you right onto the guideslope, but I find my self way too often misaligned from the ILS even if the STAR is followed by the A/P and the F-disp seems to be correct. Kinda like the airport in FS is not where it is supposed to be according to the display.

Nice vid, it helped me alot, only certain things are working different in the PMDG 747-400.. But i will figure out...

Thanks you helped me out a lot!
Pretty nice done tutorial best seen on YouTube and it is almost 3 Years old!
Good Job THANKS!

@PremierLeagueUpdates The altitude callouts are referring to AGL (above ground level) so you can know how far your pplane is from hitting the ground... while the altimeter refers to MSL (mean sea level) so if the airport is above sea level your MSL and AGL altitudes are going to be different

I just want to say thanks to the author for taking the time to get this knowledge out there. It was certainly helpful to me! Thanks again!!

Great tutorial!
I liked the professionalism, the fact that you stuck to what you wanted to present which is the FMC.
And, you are correct. Having been on more than 3,500 commercial flights, and talking with hundreds of pilots, all of them say that they use the AP for just about everything and they don't mind a bit. You are correct when you say that the AP is safer, more fuel efficient and used extensively in commercial flights.
nice video dude but what disappoints me is that in that light day you're using the autopilot to control everything and this is not healthy because when you need to fly in yourself you won't have any idea of how to

@gustavo87467357 Well I tried to keep it as realistic as possible and the reality is that in commercial aviation the AP does most of the work for us pretty much as soon as we get of the ground. While its certainly possible to hand fly a commercial get its not common and in many cases company prohibited since the AP can do it better, safer and add in a crap load of fuel savings for the carrier.

@WTurbiasz maybe in the us or wherever.... but i can ensure you that if you need to do it yourself...you know your ending...crash. seriously don't put all the pilots in this because me and all my friends we don't use the ap the way you say

@gustavo87467357 Look Im not going to argue with you over the fact. If you want to jump into a commercial airliner and fly it around like its a little cessna then be my guest. The reality of what you think and how things are is really quite different. These systems were developed for a reason and that reason lies with the fact that "Human Error" is to blame almost 80% of the time. Taking the human aspect out of the equation is the ultimate goal of commercial safety. Happy Flying.

Thank you so so much you helped me out loads! Two Questions...Why do both Auto pilots have to be activated for an autoland and what are the other two?
kieranman739 1 year ago
@kieranman739 You only need 2 activated if you want the AT to do an automatic flare otherwise you can use one. Its not a bad idea to use two as in the real world 2 is better then 1 in case one goes down. The other two are for the copilot to use if hes flying from the right seat that way there is no confusion.
