Phil Collins is an English singer-songwriter, drummer, keyboardist and actor best known as the lead singer and drummer of English progressive rock group Genesis.
In 1984 PhilCollins produced Philip Bailey's Chinese Wall album. He performed a duet on one of the album's tracks, "Easy Lover"

I play this entire song on frets 6,7,8 E and D string. I'm a beginner and figured it out by ear. It sounds very similar if not exactly the same as you. The catch is you seem to play it more spread out, which makes it harder. I know one can play riffs in many different places on the fretboard. but i dont understand why you play it in harder way? Or is just a personal interpretation of the song and not the 100% correct one?

@myownservant I like to play on the E and A strings because thicker strings have more bass, a thicker tone.
