A project for a laser cutting and design class at Stanford called CEE 10si.
I based this project on a similar one by Greg Madison who has a how to on instructables. His patterns were cool and well designed so I used his instead of trying my own, so I also owe him credit for the patterns.
I cut the patterns into the mirror acrylic and all the pieces of the translucent box using a laser cutter. In addition I built a small box to contain the circuitry and a tower inside the light box to support the LED light strip ( kit from Fry's). The translucent box rest on the circuitry box and can spin with little resistance.
