Webster Booth (1902-1984) singing one of the sentimental ballads he was so famous for. Come Into the Garden, Maud recorded for HMV in 1940 with Gerald Moore at the piano. A typical British sounding voice (holding the ending consonants) with a wonderful limpid quality. Booth was one of the greatest oratorio singers of his time and made many records and films with his wife Anne Ziegler (1910-2003). They were immensely popular and continued to perform into the 1980's. There are quite a few other postings of Booth on Youtube. I'm about to post a more serious selection.
