Turville in Buckinghamshire, England (UK) is the home of Dawn French's sitcom "The Vicar of Dibley" and other TV shows and films including "Goodnight Mr Tom" and "Little Britain". Nearby Cobstone Farm Windmill in Ibstone was the location for "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (starring Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, Gert Frobe et al). The windmill and cottage were purchased by Hayley Mills and Roy Boulting in 1971 (thanks to Whirlywizard for that information).

  • What is the name of that song? It's magical. : ) The village is as well!

  • The song is "The Lord Is My Sheperd" credited to "101 String Orchestra".

    Thank you for watching!

  • Perhaps you have considered writing to the BBC to ask them to stop showing repeats of The Vicar of Dibley? Perhaps ask ITV to destroy any copies of Goodnight Mr Tom? How about asking Disney to place an international ban on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? To suggest that my humble montage of photos is causing the village to be besieged by tourists is, quite frankly, laughable.

  • Was Goodnight Mr Tom filmed here?

  • Yes

  • @DanielListerUK Miserable old git.

  • I love the little town of "Dibley". The video was nice too.

  • @splifffun consider moving or drowning yourself if you dont like it

  • @splifffun bet the small buisiness owners don't mind too much.

  • Love this as I use to roll down the hill by the windmill as a child before they fenced it off. Have been back since with my husband.

  • Turville was also the location for the amazing war film 'Went the Day Well?' (made in 1942) that imagines the Nazi invasion of a small English village and the stirring wartime documentary 'Christmas Under Fire' made in 1941. The trailer for 'Went the Day Well?' and the whole of 'Christmas Under Fire' are both available on the brilliant bfifilms channel.

  • Well said. Tourists will go where they want to! My only problem is that pub, the Bull & Butcher says Turville it is in Oxfordshire when it's no! It's in Bucks.

  • One a crisp clear day you cannot beat this village and its' surrounds. As yesterday was such a day - guess where we went....

  • I wish I could visit for about two weeks here. Looks wonderfully relaxing. I live in a small village now,but we are short of fields and animals.
