  • This is a pretty stupid statement. Even a fiscal conservative has to admit that the government CAN create jobs.

The conservative argument should be that it is not the purpose of the government to create jobs.

This is why, even as a fiscal conservative, I can't be a Republican. (actually, there are a lot of reasons, this is just one of them)

  • It's a sad commentary on the state of political discourse in this country that we have to waste time debunking such an obviously preposterous statement.

Blitzer should have a trap door under his guest chair. Then, when somebody says something as idiotic as the governement never ever creates jobs, Blitzer can flip a switch and Steele (or whoever is spewing idiocy today) gets dunked in a tank of cold water.

  • Fuck the MSNBC

  • Dan Gross is an idiot. Lol, where does the government get the money to "create" those jobs? What would the people do with the money if the government didn't conficate it from them? What a dumbass!

  • Holy sh**... BigGovLibTards have won the indoctrination battle, haven't they? The fact that NEWS ANCHORS are spreading this crap is depressing.

  • Apparently, MSNBC doesn't what opportunity cost is. The government has never created a job in the private sector via spending. Also, those resources in the government sector are stolen from the private sector, so no, the government doesn't create jobs. Never has, never will.

  • MSNBC is an infomercial. How about they start working on the myths that their network puts out?

  • Business creates jobs leftist pigs, Government destroys them and economies. Spending is what destroys economies. Socialism destroys economies. Saving and Free markets with no ffascistic contorl/intimidation/unions and other shitty insolvency causing mechanism on business is what creates jobs and raise the standard of licing.

Private property rights, free markets, and the underconsumption that comes with savings which the dmeocrats have been waging war against with their gov bank need to stop

  • You fascist Obama woorhsipping diots know literally nothing about economics. Governemnt not creat jobs it does detsroy jobs. and what is needed are Market driven capital structure creating free market allocated jobs, the type of jobs gov destroys with its inflation and taxes to pay for unproductive and anti-productive jobs that either are anti-business and destroy even more jobs that way or are phony "public work" business misallocating reosurces that way as well.

  • He said, "Government tax cuts don't work because people just save."

What happens to money people save? It is reinvested into the economy. John Doe has money in the bank and the bank has money to lend to investors.

    These people are insane!

  • MSNBC is in no position to try and bust any myth. They are a myth, a joke. The left likes to use Fox news as a punching bag, but MSNBC is far more unprofessional.

Obviously the unemployment rate is low in heavily bureaucratic areas. The government never downsizes. They just continue to take from the private sector. Go find someone to interview who was laid off because the government has taken too much of the private sectors money. Those people are invisible to you economic illiterates.

  • *The government does not create a net gain of jobs*

You need to produce something in order to create a job. Obviously you can get a job in the military, but where does the money for that job come from. It all comes from the private sector. When the government spends, they have to tax, borrow or print money. None of them are free lunches.

People use tax rebates to save. They spend tax cuts because that is a permanent reduction in the rate and hence a higher income.

    Was that guy an economist?
