@Xbox360Player350 Really dang your' right I forgot that it was just increase in power... to almost seem as if i twas a 3.7... What is weird is that there is no manual in the Maxima any more though this one I feel would of been a joy unlike the 04-06 which with the manual that I drove felt to big and more like A highway car...
-
@LilJWzzle If it's like the Cobalt's strong 2.2/2.4's shouldn't be too bad of a problem but if its like you say with the cruze 4 I do believe it could be a fail. (Thank God for Aftermarket) :) Your mom is Awesome that Malibu is so Sexy with the Rear looking like the Last Gen Mitsu Diamante :)
-
@LilJWzzle You know I miss our 98 GP GT Sedan it was so sexy, low and sounded so good. But I guess my mom's G6 G8 GT coupe relived that lol.. Yea they are supposed to but I'm thinking it will be a stretched lacrosse/ or same plat form but with the 3.6 standard.. ( For some reason I feel they should make it like the Overseas Opal insignia with the 3.6 turbo (I think that's right) awd /Buick GS and Just make that an SS version while the Regular car should be the Caprice... I forgot about the GNX.

@gsxellence Nope, the Maxima never got the VQ37. It still has the same VQ35DE motor as the Altima.
-
@gsexcellence Yes I think you are right also. I think they should have kept the 3800 in the impala. My mom also had an 05 Grand Prix and that was a good motor just very underpowered for what it was (only 200 HP). Sad that in it's glory days the engine powered the GNX...
Anyway I hate to say it but if GM doesn't do a redesign the impala will be gone. My prediction is that it will b gone by 2013 and will b replaced by a Rear Drive G8 replacement (Caprice)

@joshpaul7 weird how the 5.3's had cylinder shut off and active torque on demand.why can't they do this for all the cars ... I think they are honestly trying to save money. now Camera has to compete with Mustang in Fuel wars with power... I guess the Genesis coupe will have it's V8 soon or a new bigger version of it I hope I'll just get that. and buy a used G8 GXP
-
@LilJWzzle I think what they are doing is down sizing it again, because the 2012 impala will have the 3.6 as a sole engine close to 302 hp or so. Just like with the altima when it was redesigned larger in 02 more power, in 07, they actually made it a little smaller on the outside lil more room inside but power was kept lower then the new Max but then the new max added a 3.7.. I don't know but your right. the only fours that made decent powers were in the Cobalt and HHR (Early Grand am/malibu's)
-
@jp2kgt Yea IDK about AWD. That would require a completly new platform, and there's nothing wrong with the current one. And about the G8 replacement, I highly doubt it will be a rebodied Malibu, it will most likey be something else that will most likely use the CTS-V's or CTS's Sigma II platform

@gsxellence Yea, i'm kinda worried about the 4 cyl thing. I've ridden in a 4 cyl Cruze and it seems to almost struggle, so I have no clue what the new Malibu is gonna be like. Idk whats wrong with having the 3.6L V6 in the Malibu, that's whats in my Mom's car and it freaking rips (for being what it is) and gets around 25-30 MPG.
I love how the impala has just been neglected...

how bout making fuel efficient V6 and V8 engines??...I know it can be done. There is no originality in cars these days, they're all the same, everyone shares with everyone else whether its engines, styling, you name it. They're boring!
