  • Always thought Pete Sinfield was a giant in the field of lyricism. He was a great composer too. I am a musician but can't compose to save my life. Can someone clarify this. Did he right lyrics for some of Celine Dion's songs?

  • @JesseP11 Yes, he wrote Think Twice and Call The Man.

  • Ah, Pete Sinfield. What a great artist. King Crimson was and still is a great part of my musical life. Sinfield's Song of the Seagoat album is still a fave of mine too. Thanks for this post. KC is relatively unknown in Australia. I first heard them on ABC radio in1971.

  • @explosions49 Fuck you motherfucker. You don't know shit do you? Why are you aiding in comparing two completely different bands. I love Crimson as much as the next prog-fanatic but the Beatles are not overrated. The "studio trickery" you speak was employed because the band wanted more creative freedom and were sick of feeling restricted by the screaming drowning out their shows. Cunt.

  • @explosions49 Same here, no matter what people say, as experimental as the Beatles got during the latter days, they could never try and do the things great prog giants like Crimson and Yes were doing at the same time. They are an overrated band, most people who overrate them just can't grasp prog rock.

  • Peter: Thank you very much for your reflections! Very interesting. You contributed so much to the first group (KC Mark 1)... perhaps it was you that pushed the group over the line - into an outstanding class? Thanks for your work on all four (!) of the first albums [Mark 1, 1a, 2 (Lizard), and 3 (Islands).] We'll remember; though your work speaks for itself.

  • amazing ,simply amazing. 21st century schizoid man remains a masterpiece to this day.

  • @jwild611 True words... although spoken in (just) anger ! Some young people speak lightly of the BEATLES without knowing enough about them and the musical ground they covered in their relatively short existance as a band.

  • LOL To watch the two hippies trying to ...dance to the ...EPITAPH (!!!) is reeeeally funny ! R. Fripp must surely have made a wry comment on that !

  • I saw them in hyde park and in a small hall, where they had the strobe and were doing mars by holst and as he says ,the effect was shockingly strong and I was disappointed it was never properly attempted on record. its a shame we have to have the obligatory sneery voice over by one of the pc punk comedians, even though he is old enough to have been around at the time. of course this is " prog " as they like to call it ,to marginalise and denigrate it.

  • Ha Ha 'looks like' Roy Wood At 1:37. Which brings us to the fact that both Roy and Ian were multi-instrumentalists and were born within a few months of each other.

  • King Crimson is my favorite band, Fripp is the most experimental guitarist, their inventive music was a great period in my life when I discovered them in my first year at college, which was 2 years ago.
