fist off bill gates never made computers so you cant fault him for your hardware and second the start button doesnt just shut down your computer it leads you to everything on it. Third of course it asks you if you want to shut down you dont want to accidently hit the shutdown and have your computer shut down in the middle of something important your doings. 4th it also asks you if you want to restart or lock the computer. Also the password is optional and its so people can get to stuff, SECURITY
