Part Two: Rod Stewart deserves props as well, he read about Terry in 1981 and was moved to co-write this song (alnong with Bernie Taupin - think Elton John). If you never liked Rod Stewart before, give him a chance now.
Long live the memory of Terry fox, long live the music of Rod Stewart.
Part One: Aside mfrom my father, Terry Fox was my hero. He always shall be. Like most boys I had sports idols that I adored, but hero is a strong word. Only to few should it be attributed to. All that wear the uniform of their country in it's defence deserves the word hero, few of the rest of us do. Terry Fox is an exception. To me, all that is great about being a Canadian is wrapped up in Terry. A silent courage, and a will to overcome. We take back seats to nobdy in courage and honour.
Terry Fox is THE GREATEST Canadian who ever lived. It has been acknowledged that because of his efforts and inspiration to others, many types of cancer that were deadly 30 years ago are today fully curable. Tommy Douglas may have been voted the "Greatest Canadian" for establishing Universal Health Care, but Terry Fox has ensured that thousands have never had to use it for long. Cheers, Terry.
I remember participating in many Terry Fox runs in Highschool. One in particular was in 1983. I was having alot of pain in my lower back and thought i wouldnt be able to finish the run. I thought about all of the pain and agony that Terry had gone through and pushed on and finished the run. I think of Terry and what he has done for Canada and the world and it makes me very proud to have been alive when he fulfilled his dream. thank you Terry. You are my hero
Terry Fox to me is one of the most inspirational Canadians to ever walk the face of the earth! I wish more people in the world knew about him and what he did to help those in need that were suffering from the terrible disease that took his life! I first heard of Terry when I purchased Rod Stewart's 1981 album Tonight I'm Yours that has this song on it. Its truly inspired me and kept my spirit up on achieving my goals.
What a hero! Each of us think we have the worst of problems, misfortunes, heartbreaks and sadness. If we all could open hearts and turn our problems into a motive for helping others, what a world this would be! How many could we save?
This is the saddest video on You Tube, without question. Terry Fox's spirit and courage touched millions of people and still does today. I truly believe he is in heaven now watching down and if he could he would be gently kicking all of in the ass to work even a tiny fraction of how he did, to make this world a better place. Terry is a hero and a testament to how if anyone wants something badly enough, all they have to do, is try, and never, give up on your dreams.
GREAT JOB !!!!!
