  • More money came to Romney from California than Utah, and of course, Romney was famous there for organizing the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. Not all Mormons are voting for Romney.

  • Yeah, I doubt Harry Reid (Mormon also) will be voting for Mitt Romney. Many people don't realize that everyone in the LDS community are free to vote any way they choose.

Had Romney not converted to pro-life, and proven his commitment through active support as Governor, I wouldn't be in his corner. I'm a values-based voter. Neither Giuliani, McCain, nor Fred Thompson are socially conservative enough to win with Republicans on this issue.

  • mrk04,

Finally, someone with a brain...thank you.

  • well said, i'm with you.

  • I am a devout catholic, and I would never vote for Rudy over Mitt. Honestly, and I am speaking as a major in Religion, there are clear differences between LDS theology and Catholic theology. HOWEVER, both have doctrines that are hardly believable outside of the faith. The important issue is that his values represent mine, and the core beliefs of LDS are the core beliefs of any other mainstream Christian. I'm voting for Mitt.

  • Steve, you came here attacking religion, and specifically Romney's faith. You've made many ignorant assumptions and have relied on stats and information that came from anti-Mormon sources. Is this respectful? I've allowed you to speak your piece despite your poor assumptions, etc. If you're "done with me", that's your choice. Don't try to paint me as a hypocrite on your way out though.

  • " Were I to believe in Heaven, it would seem that every evil person would confront perfection, and weep in ways we'd never understand." Steve, this is a pretty good understanding of the "hell" that people who are unclean and unworthy of salvation will feel. I don't believe in Dante's hell, but rather in the concept of damnation. Being unable to become like our Savior due to rejecting him and his gospel.

  • Again, you're assuming that God's love is conditional. You're wrong, but this has nothing to do with consequences. Do you honestly think that there's no difference between good people and evil people? What did Christ say about child abusers? That it would be better that a millstone be tied around their neck and that they be drowned in the depths of the sea, and that it would be better for them if they were never born.

  • Steve, you've made several blanket statements and generalizations that SHOW that you don't understand my religion. You're the one who came here attacking religion in general, including mine. You're more interested in arguing your point than in learning about things that you have questions with. That isn't conducive to learning.

  • You talk of respect and hypocrisy, yet you show fellow citizens who are ideological opponents utter contempt for their supposed lack of understanding. I'm done with you.
