Yes, we can all hate for updating like a little whore. I broke my laptop so I hate this desktop and high school is a killer, especially my honors classes. I miss you all and your support. I'm trying to get back into writing because as of right now, I have no interest for a social life.
Joe and Sage parted; his hand reached up and smoothed her hair. "It'll all be okay, I'm here now." He pressed his forehead against her own, bumping his cold nose into her nose repeatedly until Lucy finally cleared her throat. "Right, right." He nodded, pulling them both into the living room with Nick.
"Nick .." Joe began cautiously, leaning against the arm of the couch. "The heat is going out all over the place so Sage is crashing here. Would you mind maybe crashing in the pool house while Luc and Sage are here?" Timidly he looked up to meet his younger brothers gaze. Nick's plump lips were pressed in a tight line fighting the urge to flat out tell Joe no. "Alright, fine." He sighed inwardly, glancing up at his girlfriend. "Are you going to stay with me? "
Sage chewed her bottom lip, twirling a piece of blonde hair around her finger. "The bedrooms in there are so chilly.." She replied quietly, avoiding his eyes. Lucy cleared her throat and stood causing all of the eyes in her room to fall onto her pretty, heart shaped face. "I'll stay in there with you Nick, if you'd like." Joe's eyebrows rose, the fell before rising again. "Why?" Joe finally asked, tugging at a piece of choppy black hair.
If looks could kill, there wouldn't be a doubt in anyone's mind that Joe would be dead where he stood. "Because, I don't want him out there alone and seeing as she wont go." Lucy paused to motion at Sage. "And we both know you wont go yourself, Joe. I don't mind so then its decided." She clapped her hands together suddenly causing everyone in the room to jump. She quickly turned on her heel to focus her attention on Nick. "That is if you don't mind, I'll be out of your way. Scouts honor." She smiled, raising her right hand. Nick nodded hesitantly letting her proposal sink in. "I don't mind." He glanced over at Sage. "Is that okay with you?" Sage nodded enthusiastically, giving him a smile. "Its fine if you want it." She replied curtly, stealing a side glance at Joe.
Nick shrugged brushing off Joe's and Sages awkward secretive behavior; placing a kiss on her lips he trudged up the stairs to gather a bag. Lucy gawked at Joe angrily. "You cant keep this up Joe. Hes going to notice." She glared at Sage, shaking her head. "The longer you take, the more painful its going to be for all of you." With that, she walked out of the room leaving a reminder of what was to come thick in the air.
Lucy was already outside and waiting by to door of the pool house when Nick finally emerged from the back sliding door. "Sorry, didn't know you were already waiting out here." He smiled apologetically, quickly shoving the key into the door and opening it. He persuaded her heavy bags from her stiff, cold fingers and nudged her in the door. "This is huge..' She murmured softly, her eyes scanning the cozy two room flat equipped with a kitchen and den, along with a whole other wing for the pool.
"This will be your room." He grinned, guiding her in the direction of one of the bedrooms, dropping her bags at the foot of her bed. His chocolate brown eyes lit up happily at the approving look on her face. "I wouldn't resent it if you wanted to go to the house and stay with your boyfriend."
Lucy looked at him for a few moments, her thoughts reeling in her mind. "Joe and I aren't exactly together anymore; we kind of split before leaving for here. Hes still my best friend so I decided to come anyways." She spoke slowly as if testing each word before spewing them out into a sentence. Her thoughts about everything have been far from coherent since Joe had shown up on her doorstep not even 4 days ago.
Nick followed along, nodding in the appropriate places. His tongue fought against his teeth to deliver the word that was plaguing him since she started telling him. "Why?" When he finally spoke, he could see that Lucy was deep in thought. "Well, I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you came anyways. I've been anxious for a fresh face." He said sincerely before heading off to his own temporary room.
