@MrDjnostyle I was using Umineko as an example, since you seem unable to notice that. And yes, throwing away extra characterization and plot makes everything soooo much better. I mean, look how much it helped the Unlimited Blade Works movie! (Protip: that's another "example")

@CaptainZETTA Odd that you say that, considering in your last comment you made it sound like you haven't even read the SN and are just going off of what you were told. Umineko is a completely different topic, so there is no need to even bring that up. And the artwork of the SN is so terrible that I don't think any adaptation at all wouldn't improve on that aspect. So they left content from the SN out. Yeah. Better than having the series drag on an extra twenty episodes.

@MrDjnostyle a) Yes..the gore was very tasteless compared to other series. b) The anime was BAD. As in it was a terrible, TERRIBLE adaptation of the sound novel. The skipped over a lot of details from the sound novel and basically changed Higurashi's genre(Which pretty much sums up anything DEEN animates). It was so bad that Ryukishi07 himself had to moderate the writing of Umineko to make sure everything important was put in during production.

@CaptainZETTA In my opinion, anyone that sees the gore as "Tasteless" in this series doesn't have any idea what "Taste" is whatsoever. I've seen plenty of meaningless gore not only in anime, but in film as well. At least in this series it all gets tied together in the end when the protagonist comes to the realization that he killed his friends in some alternate universe, which is basically the climax of the first season. And anything that can be tied into the climax of something is not tasteless
