What Makes Austin: Mt. Bonnell

Mount Bonnell, also known as Covert Park, offers great views of Austin and the lake, only a couple of minutes from downtown. If you're working on the west side of Austin, you could easily take your lunch to the top and relax in the sun.

With that said, it's not much of a hike, so if you're looking to hike around for a day, you might want to look elsewhere. If you're out of shape or have difficulty walking, I'd bet you'd still be able to walk up to the top... it's only 100 steps or so.

I think this place is best suited for couples wanting a great view and some quiet time, so if you're looking to impress your boo, head to Mt. Bonnell for the view.
