I do not own anything but the pony...
No Copyright Intended

I do not know quite what was going on there... She has NEVER done the pole pattern before... I was NOT holding her head... I think it has something to do with the driving she did in a previous lifetime. She may think there are shafts about to push her in a straight line. But i do know that she did not learn how to bend around my leg which was the intention.. Bless her heart, she so dearly wanted to rear right up or bugger off.. But she didn;t she stayed there and kept going at it for me... In the end she realised oh... I have to turn around.. Not sure what happened on the last one why she kept backing up... But i will try again soon, see if she gets it...

Oh she is a madam with her cantering at the moment.. She just wants to GO for it! But those bucks were very small for her... So i wonder why she put them in!

  • Hehehee, i had not though of that one...

  • Shianna is so cute! I love her colouring. Good for her for making it through...even if they're confused they'll keep going if they trust you, and she obviously trusts you not to hurt her. =]

  • Thanks...

  • Well done -you sit so quietly on her!

  • For what its worth, you may have more success trying your exercise around bending poles (gymkhana style) or jump standards as she could not go over those. You don't really want to teach her to not go over ground poles if you want her to learn how to jump someday. To my eye, the backing up issue appears to be from the tension on your reins giving her mixing signals. One cannot overestimate the value of a skilled instructor assisting you from the ground. Good luck!

  • Lol, that was fun to watch, what a silly pony. I'm glad she managed to get through all right. It made me giggle that the pony kept turning at the same spot all the time. I probably would have gotten so frustrated.

Oh, and the little bucks at the end, usually means she is excited/happy or just haveing fun really. Horse useually do it while galloping too. =)

  • That is a cute pony! I teach Centered Riding techniques to my students. YOU are not bending so your horse will not bend either. You must swivel from the hip into the direction that you want your horse to go...try it....usually works every time! If you stay straight, your horse will stay straight, if you bend, so will your horse. Good luck!
