I got the Aces edition just to get the pup. The game lagged worse that hell due to bad graphic card but I still enjoyed flying it until I went mad with lagg. Now I am saving up for the card needed so I can take my Pup "Apple" for a spin and confirm a few kills.
@lebarosky - a lot of the planes did suffer performance deterioration with the added weight of a second machine gun. Some pilots thought the added firepower was worth the deterioration in performance, others did not. On the Triple Entente (UK, France, Russia, Italy) side, there were shortages of Vickers guns, so that was another reason for many planes having only one.
The troops on the ground needed all the machine guns they could get. They took priority. Also, one machine gun was more than enough to down the planes at the start of the war.
Later in the war, when machine guns became available en masse, and more firepower was needed two guns became the norm. On some fighters like the Sopwith Dolphin they initially fitted four machine guns.
The Pups came standard with one but more than one configuration was made during its lifetime. I've seen configs with one vickers and one lewis (up top) and one with two vickers.

Wonder why they only mounted one gun perhaps the plane's performance suffered with two.
