Approx. 190 hrs to finish.

There are two different colors and textures on the red areas (7 steps each, listed in the video): Dark red/ rougher cast metal texture, and light red/ lighter cast metal texture-- adding the textures takes this beyond the usual paint job. In contrast, the white parts are smooth and painted pearl. Custom gold/ metal to look more aged and weathered and less toy-like. After-market water-slide decals (with metallic grays), so no ugly stickers.

Doing the math adding the cost of the kit, materials, and the time to build it, I'm actually losing money on it, but ah well. lol I've been building models for 30 years and professionally for 11 years. Decided to start making some videos of recent builds. Check out my website for more stuff: http://historywithdade.com

  • a MG gundam takes me half a day to finish. does it really take 190hrs for PG?

  • @SmallBoyzzz If you do all the painting steps I did, it might. Some people may be faster, but considering how this was not only a paint job, but also a texturing and decal job, it took me personally 190 hours. Your mileage may vary.

  • is this one from gundam seed?

  • @Nazoo1901 Technically, yes. The Astray first appears in SEED as the MS used by Orb military forces. This particular Astray, piloted by Lowe Guele, with added weaponry/ equipment appears in Gundam SEED Astray-- a side story manga (with an accompanying animated short).

  • Hi, I just recently finished building my PG Red Frame. I noticed in the books there are images of optional units with left over parts. I was wondering would you have a guide on how to build the optional units or what you did with the left over parts. Thanks in advance

  • @ChefMK Hmm, since it's been a while since I built this, I don't remember many leftover parts except for the two folding knives... Srry, I don't have anything on building the optional units...

  • @spacemadness123 I personally would, but it;s up to the builder. I did the panel lining on this one with subtle tones instead of solid black.

  • Nice review, clear crisp and to the point.

    Good choice of Music too.

  • @Hetzer Thanks for your help anyways!

  • @shakyhealer Since the torso is Gun Metal, it actually *is* metallic, just an understated type of metallic. Otherwise I think the effect would have been too much-- having different finishes is more pleasing to the eye than just "everything's shiny". Unless you mean the torso shouldn't have been metallic at all-- which in that case I think it would be too much of a stylistic separation from the rest.
