In real life, McCall was found innocent after two hours deliberation by an impromptu court in McDaniel's Theatre. McCall fled to Wyoming bragging that he killed Bill in a fair fight. The verdict in Deadwood was not recognized by Wyoming authorities on the grounds it was Indian Territory, McHall was hanged March 1, 1877 at the age of 24. In real life, he only yelled, "Take That!" not Godamn You.

In the the movie Little Big Man it was a boy that shot him, I doubt there was a "Soda Pop Kid" present as well. Still a great movie.

One of the very best scenes from a brilliant series. The entire build up to this moment of the episode is so well crafted, the unease throughout is palpable. And then this, this wonderful chaos. I can imagine it was rather like this in reality.
