A new book "GARY THOMPSON: All-American" has just been published in Iowa in late 2008, saluting one of the state's greatest sports heroes. Thompson became a household name across Iowa when he starred for the giant-killing Roland Rockets in high school basketball in the early 1950s, then he became a two-sport All-American at Iowa State University. He also had a 34-year career as a commentator on TV coverage of college basketball games, and he is a successful business owner in Ames, Iowa. You can get morer details about the book at the Internet site of author Chuck Offenburger, at www.Offenburger.com. In this video, three of Thompson's old friends from Roland, Iowa, brothers Harris "Pete" Twedt Jr. and Jerry Twedt, and pianist Mary Severseike, help celebrate the new book with a rendtion of the old Roland High School fight song.
