Started out chasing a tornado warned supercell in western Chautauqua County, KS north of Sedan. We arrived about 10 minutes after a confirmed touchdown. Rotation stays apparent but then dissipates quickly. We then retreated to Galena, KS where we observed this tornado warned supercell enter the town from the west with a large visible funnel. Storm sirens blaring...

  • I'm pretty sure you'd think differently had you been there to see it in person, not sure how anyone thinks they can call this one based on a few lightning glimpses on youtube

  • thats my home town! i go back every now and then to see my old houses.. i remember when i was like under 5 there was a tornado and we had to go to the high school to take cover.. although i dont think it came near us but also the school carnival was going on...

  • great video! i love the sound of the FS Thunderbolt (1:13 - 2:40) there in the background, sounds like an FS 2001 continues after that... they really add to it. sucks its at night, would have been nice to see the video of that in the daytime.

  • i live in galena i remember this tornado my brother and his friends were at josephs and they saw it

  • No disrespect on the video though, hell its a good video I like it man. :) But yeah man, good video nonetheless though :)

  • I labeled it Galena funnel because I believe it was a funnel yeah. When you refer to the "beginning" if you were talking about the daylight footage I'd agree you're right, thats just scud, too far away at that point to say otherwise. As far as the nighttime footage goes it had definite rotation from our vantage point and the NWS had seen enough in their radar to sound a tornado warning. I guess you could talk to them about it being too linear if you wanted.

  • Do you see a funnel in there or not? Its a wall cloud at best. beginning is low hanging scud you can see no rotation no left and right exits either. The paused video shot was lightning and a wall cloud at best. Good storm, but the storm was nearly linear atm

  • Well c'mon superhero, educate me. Why isn't it a funnel?

  • Just saying its not a funnel guy.
