  • 2 words-"living locomotive".

  • LOO..you want to play like that bud, seeya later. I have heard that was what Secretariat was like, his own horse. Yes to bad there was that prior financial obligation about putting him out to stud, damn what would he had done at age 4. Those are IFS that make you just cringe not knowing, because you know if at 4 he might had flown.

  • Secretariat is amazing! I'm soo happy his last race was in Canada!

  • I was at this race... I still have a $5.00 win ticket... what a race. What a horse.

  • I love hearing Eddie Maple describe the race. After the Belmont, Ron Turcotte told Lucien that Big Red was going easy... imagine that.

  • The greatest, there will never again be another. He was perfection. I was at that Belong and he won by 31 lengths :)

  • Secretariat literally became a priceless national treasure after he won the Triple Crown. He might have been syndicated for over $6 million, but following the Belmont his worth was beyond price. It was a huge risk running him in the months after June 9, 1973, but he wanted to run,so he ran. And when it was time to go, Secretariat left everyone wanting more which is how all great athletes should retire.

  • Holy Moly.....check out the acceleration at 3:45.....crazy fast.

  • @TXRider The notion that Curlin is in the same league, or close to it, as Secretariat is preposterous. It's OK to have your favorite horse but, try to be rational. "finishing his work"...please.

  • Instead of getting "the finger" Kennedy Road go "the hoof" as Sec blew past.

  • @ewd76 Neither Slew no Citation was Bjg Red. Citation was injured and Slew was in ill health. No comparison. Sec would have owned every record.
