Shoegaze many times shares the structure of a typical post-rock song, but not necessarily. There are more shoegazing songs that are structured like traditional pop/rock songs, than there are post-rock ones, I think.

A big thing in shoegazing is, however, effects. Generally there is a lot of delays and choruses and whatnot going on at the same time. The name of the genre comes from players who just stare their effect pedals during the whole gig :)

This creates an ambient/ethereal feeling.

No, it's called Shoegaze because song lyrics were written on paper and kept on the floor while playing.

It LOOKED like they were gazing at their shoes but in reality they were reading lyrics! Stunning. Too much drugs methinks.

I was like What the fuck? I did not know what that genere means.

Try Flying Saucer Attack, very uplifting shoegaze/space rock. My Dreaming Hill is probably one of my favourite gaze songs from 90s along with Breather by Chapterhouse. I'm still looking for bands all the time, if you have suggestions. Shoegaze :) :) :)......
