I'm just starting to get interesting in martial arts, and I want to learn more about Leopard style, and this video was VERY helpful, introduction-wise. Thanks for posting this, and do you have any other sources I could refer to?

I've never seen the leopard paw used that way. I've only seen scratching movements. It seems only stable enough for soft parts when you do it like that. But if you use the same hand position with a reverse knife hand motion it's quite suitable for harder targets. Any thoughts?

@TanDaoKungFu if you search RyuKyu Kempo and tuite jitsu you can see some of the tech we do

Good observation. The leopard paw is also used as a knife hand. The leopard paw is an advanced technique because, as you observed, because the hand position is not as strong as a fist or palm strike, the knuckles are more apt to collapse on impact. In TanDao Leopard Combat we teach special ways to employ it so that it is more lethal than a fist - provided your hand is properly strengthened. Otherwise stick to a fist.

in ryukyu kempo i was taught that there is three technigues for every kata move and at least three ways to do each one depending on your body type ,,i like this

@stompySharpNpointy
Thanks. Knowing that there are at least three variations and ways of doing each technique is an excellent method for looking deeper. As you know, there are even deeper layers of meaning, for example vital point targeting and hidden throws, joint locks or strikes.
