  • Awesome! Hard to beat Hank Mancini when he picks up the pen. I actually dicsussed this title with him (those parallel 11ths are baritone horns.) One of my favorite titles from one of the great composers in film.

  • It's a stunningly beautiful cue, though I think the cut we hear above isn't quite as vibrant as the one heard in the actual film. You really have to watch that opening sequence.

  • I was at the soundstage the day Mr. Mancini and the orchestra was recording the musical soundtrack to the movie Nightwing. The Burbank Studios, November, 1978. The scene I witness was where a character was climbing a rock...

  • Hello,

Soundtrack available on varese saraband label. Try ebay or screen archives entertainment websites. Main title track is available on a Mancini compilation called "Mancini in Surround" and "Mancini Monster Hits" both available on Amazon.

    Hope this is helpful.

  • I think it has to do with killer vampire bats

  • What is this movie about?

  • excellent score indeed, really elevates an otherwise so-so movie into something special. I always felt Mancini could do "haunting and atmospheric" so well, an area he didn't explore much but he did (Wait Until Dark, Experiment in Terror) it was always something special

  • Great music. Mancini could do tension and mood with the best of them. Would love to have a CD of the full score.

  • I had forgotten that Mancini did the music for this film; the theme always stuck with me. Listening to it, one almosts feels as if they are standing on top of the tallest mountain, looking out upon the endless landscape.
