From the Wikipedia article about Dutilleux (concerning his early works):
"Dutilleux has disowned most of these pieces, written before his Piano Sonata. Some of them are nonetheless played and recorded regularly, in particular the Sonatine for Flute and Piano."
He even asked Jean-Pierre Rampal not to play this piece, and I don't think he ever did. It's amazing to me that Dutilleux could dislike such a wonderful creation. He's 96 years old now and hasn't written another flute work since.

@bartje11 I did! I did! Many composer use the modal system as an homage to the renaissance period..i thinks its awesome haha (Debussy uses modes as well)

this was very wierd.but it like it...love the A theme...the coda doesn't make any sense to me...

@debussyman88 It's very modal. Did you notice that? That's the amazing part of it. Like a more modern Gabriel Fauré, and a French Hindemith.
