And also for the people, the original song is made by NIN, Jonny Cash version is a cover.

I agree. I like the Cash version more...it is so powerful with the video...especially if you consider that his wife died during the video making. It is so sad, that the end has to be near first until you see what mistakes you made in life.
@ RoadskiN the hard thing on the "Cash-Version" is to understand that he feels the things that Trent put into the song, due to the fact that he got a point in his live as burned out / full of drugs like Trent got. Cash choose the song as his last in light of know the end is near. This was a kind of a testament. Look at the video and you will understand.....
The NIN version actually made me cry when I first heard it and to this day it makes my hairs stand up. The Johnny Cash cover does nothing for me at all.
This is a song about a screwed up present and a grim looking future. Not the sort of song for an old man (like Cash) to sing. Why would he "start again a million miles away" when he's done his dash?
Notice how Reznor's latest songs are about how he has finally found his place? That's what happens when you get older.
Hmmm, I think he's referring to Heroine use with the whole "needle tears a hole" sentence. So it's about someone who is lost in self destruction and has tossed aside all his friends and loved ones in the process. In the end he's alone and miserable, and full of regret
Cash's version seems to look back with pain and regret. But NIN's seems to be more about looking forward to a future filled with nothing but the pain and regret they are feeling now. They are broken, and the future is dark. Both versions break my heart.

You know what NIN said after listening to Cash's version?
He wouldn't listen his own version again ^^
