Wrist warm ups, stretches, & strengthening exercises:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOb_AKQWXIQ
As stated, this video has been requested for me to show the fundamental basics on using/holding/striking the Kali/Arnis/Escrima stick. This is the first part, since there are a lot of basics that I haven't covered on using the single stick. There are other requests that were first before this; it just so happened that I did my upper body exercise on that day, w/c is why I went straight on doing this video XD. Hopefully, the requests will be done w/in this week because of some free time that I have before Fall semester begins. Yes, the basics about the wrist was self-discovered =P. No one taught me how to correctly hold the stick & on how to correctly use the stick in a almost-non-telegraphic way. What I've showed about holding the stick, using the wrist & the fingers is purely out of self-discovery, deep observation, & research. Any, ANY, kind of similarities on that is purely coincidental. Also, as stated, it ties on the my circles video =):

In depth explanation/application will be on future videos. For those who can apply the techniques using the stick on the circles videos (including Takeninjcanada's), you'll obviously find out the "stick katas" out of those XD. For those who can't figure out yet, it'll be on the future videos =). Thank you for watching, & I hope that these basics will help you in your training. As for the remaining requests, I humbly ask for your patience XD =3 *bow*. God bless y'all again, & have a wonderful, blessed day =D!
PS:
Anyone who wants the empty-hand applications of the Arnis/Kali/Escrima stick (especially doing solo training), send me a private message. If I receive enough private messages on showing the empty-hand applications, then I will include those =), if not, sorry =P ( I'm serious =] ).

@staringintotheabyss Depending on the situation. Most likely you will, but by warming up/stretching during your training, it lessens the injury, simply because it helps your wrists from getting used to the stress of using the stick, especially doing sudden movements like the snapping of the abaniko and things of that nature.

@Loyal2law Well I wasn't really talking about a life/death situation, just one where you'd have to defend yourself. I was curious of the risks of not stretching. Do you risk damaging your wrist?

@staringintotheabyss It's obvious that you don't warm up/stretch to defend yourself, 'cause you'll be in a life/death situation. The warm ups/stretches should be regularly done in solo practice/any kind of martial practice when done solo. Doing solo, not only prevents you from injury, but also prepares your body for a God-forbidden situation, so that you can use your body's full potential in defending yourself.

@Loyal2law My question was more based on the situation that you'd have to use the stick methods to defend yourself, one wouldn't have time for a warm-up, so that are the risks of actually not warming up?

@latragokali I did, & they're very helpful. The thing is, as you can see, this was taken years ago, & is also how I understood the basics. There are a lot of kali/arnis/escrima systems & family lineages that, it becomes so hard for beginners to choose how to do their basics =/, w/c is why I demonstrated the "general" overview in the video for them to begin understanding the very core basics of the stick arts. Mine's (family lineage) the very basic of Balintawak.
