@captainpike332 Lol, I don't need to explain it; Skyrim is not a shooter in any way just because you have the ability to "shoot" things, it's quite a bit deeper than that. The dude kept saying stupid shit and all these morons come out and say "LOL U SHOOTZ ARROWS DUH" because they're fucking stupid. This is the same reason you don't call fighting games beatem' ups. Skyrim is nowhere near being a shooter, you'd have to be stupid to think that is my point.

@jiob8 Also the wide range of weapons and combat styles make it an action RPG but if they majority of combat taking place in the game both by friendly and enemy characters took place with the use of projectile weapons and the game design revolved more around the use of such weapons like Rainbow Six, COD, Battlefield, Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc. then I would agree on a shooter classification. But it doesn't imo.

@captainpike332 And to further clarify by use of melee I mean as a last ditch or as a "cool" or convenient kill option by design though I know there are those players who do otherwise.

@Slapmaster5000 Dude, while I agree with you in the opinion that Skyrim is not a shooter,it is his opinion and in his defense there are games that cross and or blur genres just not Skyrim maybe Bioshock or Mass Effect imo. Yes, you can shoot bows and arrows however, the majority of the combat overall does not take place or rely on those weapons alone. Where as in a shooter you typically required to use a projectile weapon maybmelee But at least provide a reason why before jumping down his throat

For example I used to play Battlefield 2 it had the commander mode at least on the PC version essentially an RTS element added to an FPS but Battlefield 2 is regarded as an FPS regardless simply adding a projectile weapon and a First person perspective doesnt make it a FPS

Firefall or Mass Effect series (more ME 2/3) would fit a rpg/shooter combination label imo
