Do You Know About Your Blade's Hole?

The star hole blades (AYP/MTD) do not have to be marked before removal. The important thing is getting the star to mesh with the spindle shaft. I see hundreds of ruined AYP spindle shafts because the customers put the blade(s) on without meshing the star hole on blade to shaft star. Not to mention people putting blades on upside down. If your belt is cogged, you have a timed blade set-up. Those are very rare. If the blades are staggered, they don't need timed. internationaldave@gmail.com

I would like to see the variations in her mounting hole. Thumbs up if you agree!

iv`e got a craftsman tractor that some moron welded blades to spindle mount(bolts broke off).....got bolts out, but now a 3/8 bolt is too small to hold blade on,.and new spindle are expensive........7/16 should work or maybe a metric bolt, but blades are mostly 3/8 hole?......38" cut older type round hole blades......

Mowed without a prob...thanks for feedback
BUT-if you do not mark the blade position after you take the originals, then how do you replace a set of craftsman blades? I thought that the star holes set you up from the get go, but package said to be sure to mark position of originAL BLADES.

The only blades that I know of that need to be marked(timed) is the older model Craftsman(1976-older) and some of the Toro. The mounting pattern are designed mainly to keep the blades from turning on the spindles(blade shaft)and that manufactures can't interchange each others blade.
